Let's be honest and face it. The printer companies make there money not on the inkjet printers but on the ink. So while the printers are relatively cheap the ink is expensive. It obviously behooves us to seek ways to save money on ink. There are a number of sites where you can get tips, we wanted to add our voice

Btw... one way not mentioned below but is a real way to save money is by recycling the old cartridges there are a number of companies that will pay the postage and dollars to send them your old cartridges. Typically these are refilling companies that fill up the cartridge again and resell it for a profit. O yeah we have a article on that too...

1. competitive pricing - bottom line all things being equal you want to save as much money as possible on ink or anything else. There are very few purchases in life wherein you want to pay more money... ink is not one of them.

2. excellent reputation- It is good to know that the company you are doing business with has a good reputation. Basically you want them to deliver what they promise, this should be a track record with them. Think about going to bizrate.com or like sites where you can see what people say about the company.

3. strong return policy and guarantee- This is especially true with online companies. They should have a solid return policies and guarantees. They should also have a reputation of living up to their return policies and guarantees.

4. positive history whether short or long- We say a positive history whether short or long because just because a company has been around does not automatically mean that they are better than a company that is relatively new. So in our opinion whether a company is young or more mature is not the question, its what kind of name are they or have they established or establishing.

5. seal or third party payment like paypal- You want to feel secure that where you leave your credit card info is totally secure. I prefer using companies like paypal where the vendor only gets the money but does not have access to my credit card info. Paypal or paypal like companies sole obligation is to keep that data secure and they do a good job at that.

6. Do not buy generic ink cartridges- simply put there is no one size fits all in the ink cartridge business. Unfortunately the oem printers have a vested interest to make their cartridges different from the other. Lets be honest the profit is not in the printer its in the ink.

7. Privacy policy on the site-scan the privacy policy or any other policy documents on the site to make sure that they conduct themselves by their own policies.
